🍷 Wine region of Southeast Styria / Styrian Volcanic Land
Southeastern Styria is one of Austria's most diverse wine regions. Characterized by rolling hills, volcanic soils, and a mild climate, it produces elegant, fresh, and distinctive wines. Particularly around Klöch, Tieschen, Straden, St. Anna am Aigen, and Kapfenstein, viticulture is combined with regional cuisine, hospitality, and impressive panoramic landscapes.
A particular highlight of the region is the famous Klöch Wine Route. It leads from Bad Radkersburg via Klöch, Tieschen, and St. Anna am Aigen towards Fehring and is considered one of the most beautiful panoramic routes in the Styrian Volcanic Land. Along the way, visitors will find vineyards, traditional wine taverns, wine shops, viewpoints, and numerous opportunities for wine tasting. Klöch is considered the center of Styrian Traminer and is well-known far beyond the region.
Besides the Klöch Wine Route, other well-known culinary and wine routes, such as the Southeast Styrian Hill Country Wine Route and the Thermal Region Wine Route, run through the volcanic region. Numerous wineries and wine taverns along the rolling hills invite visitors to tastings, regional cuisine, and relaxing excursions with magnificent views stretching as far as Slovenia.
